Irina ALEXE este lector universitar asociat al Universității Ovidius, Constanța, Facultatea de Drept și Științe Administrative pe disciplina Protecția datelor cu caracter personal. Este cercetător științific asociat în cadrul Institutului de Cercetări Juridice „Acad. Andrei Rădulescu” al Academiei Române.

A deținut de-a lungul carierei sale mai multe funcții de demnitate publică, în prezent fiind Secretar de stat pentru Coordonarea relației cu instituțiile prefectului în cadrul Ministerului Afacerilor Interne. Licențiată în drept, a urmat cursuri postuniversitare în domeniul securității și apărării naționale și a ocupat funcția de Șef Serviciu Relaţia cu Parlamentul din Direcţia Generală Reglementări Juridice şi Contencios a Ministerului Administraţiei şi Internelor, având o bogată experiență de consilier juridic în cadrul aceluiași departament.
